Rachel contacted me a couple weeks ago about some very special photos she wanted taken. The subject: her childhood home.
That’s really all I needed to know before I was hooked. She wanted photos of her mom, sister, and herself at the home she grew up in — before it was sold. With her mom moving and the two siblings out on their own, the time had come for their family to move away from the home. But first, while they were all back home and together for Thanksgiving, she wanted to take some photos as memories of the place to keep with her forever.
This is why I do what I do, folks. I’m a sucker for sentimentalism!
Anyway, enough of my blubbering. Take a look at some of my favorite frames from the day:
“It didn’t matter how big our house was; it mattered that there was love in it.”
Suzi & Kyle had such a beautiful day for their wedding. It was a cool November day, but we certainly could have had much worse temps! Along with a November wedding they had those gorgeous fall colors that brought warmth to every room. We met at St. Olaf Lutheran Church here in Fort Dodge (they came all the way from Omaha!) and I spent the day with them from the first tightening of the gown, to their sundae bar reception.
Suzi’s accessories screamed of sentimentality in the most wonderful ways. Her bouquet incorporated pieces of lace and fabric from the wedding dresses of her grandmother and great-grandmother — a familial touch Sadie (my second) and I wished we could replicate! She even brought in “something borrowed, something blue” with a ring — another piece of family joining her through the day. Without further ado, check out some sweet frames from Suzi & Kyle’s big day:

Amber and Erica contacted me a few months ago about their elopement in Des Moines, and let me tell you….it’s been hard to live the last few months with this much excitement brewing! I knew when I received their survey back that their day would be full of love and laughs, and it did not disappoint. They told me how their color scheme was based off of their shower curtain, and somehow that just said it all to me! Haha 🙂 These two had plans to get married last year, but they were approved to adopt their son so plans were postponed. Their love only grew deeper, and this year they were able to travel all the way from Wichita to the Polk County Courthouse, and I am so grateful to have been a part of such a wonderful day in their lives. Congrats, you two!
These two could not have asked for a more beautiful wedding! (They could have asked for a little warmer weather, but everyone handled it really well!) Their wedding was full of personal touches, handmade details, and so much love. Amber’s bouquet was specially made to include an image of her grandma, and a sweet handwritten note wrapped around the base. The toasts included stories of fluffing all the table decorations for the reception. The bridesmaids helped Amber with her vows with song. Every ounce of love these two share and every ounce of love their friends and family have for them went into the creation of this wedding. And it showed. Check out some of the beautiful frames from their big day:
Ahhhh….it’s that time of year again! Every time I leave my house it seems like the trees are a little more colorful and the air is getting a little cooler. Fall is my favorite time of year, and not just for the amazing photographs I can create during this season! Chai tea, apple dumplings, crunchy leaves…. I’m that typical girl with a pumpkin spice latte and scarf around her neck this time of year!
That said, I was really excited to capture this family’s photos in a lovely autumn setting. The weather was much warmer than we had expected, but it was ultimately a wonderful day. While the temps weren’t exactly “autumn,” the trees were totally cooperating and I was loving it! Check out these gorgeous fall family photos:
I love how grandpa is admiring his granddaughter….so much love and pride in those eyes!
Renita and Brandon were so much fun to photograph. Their love was easy to capture, because their love is easy. The chemistry between these two practically smacks you in the face when you meet them! 🙂 I mean, they even made sure I captured some with their “comfy pose” they always fall into when they chill on the couch at home. And despite running into two huge group events at our various locations, they had faith that I could capture what they were looking for. But enough talk from me!
