My town has an annual “Spring Cleaning” – affectionately dubbed “junk day” by many of us locals. Each Wednesday for four weeks people can leave their junk that needs to be taken to the dump on the curb to be picked up without charge. The night before results in toilets, vacuums, tvs, and the like sitting on curbs, and a lot of people rummaging around for free goods. It’s a fun time because a lot of the things sat out are still in great condition, just unwanted by the former owners.
It brings the phrase, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” to life.
Yesterday I picked up a suitcase and an old typewriter for props! They were clean and in great condition, so it was an awesome score!
